Revolut advertises a €20 welcome bonus in Italy. Here is what you have to do to get it, how long it takes, and the condition most people miss.
Revolut runs a welcome bonus in most of the countries it operates in, and Italy is one of them. The headline figure is €20. That figure is real, but it is not automatic, and the route to it is narrower than the marketing suggests.
What you actually have to do
The offer is for new Italian customers only, and the conditions as published are short:
- Register from a promotional link. Not from the app store directly
- Complete identity verification
- Top up the account and spend at least €20 on the card within 30 days
The bonus is credited within a few working days once the card spend clears.
The condition most people miss
Registration has to start from the promotional link. Downloading the app first and entering a code afterwards does not work, and this is the single most common reason people report not receiving it. If you already have the app installed, the link still has to be the entry point.
How much is it really worth?
€20 for roughly five minutes of setup and a card payment you were probably making anyway is among the better ratios in the fintech category. It asks for no deposit, no salary redirection, and nothing locked up. Compared with a bank account bonus that wants your salary moved and €1,000 parked for three months, the effort-to-reward trade is favourable even though the absolute number is small.
What it costs you afterwards
This is the half nobody publishes. Revolut's standard plan applies a 1% fair-usage fee on currency exchange above £1,000 a month, and the in-app crypto flow costs 1.49% per side. Against 0% to 0.09% on the separate Revolut X platform. Neither affects the bonus, but if you are opening the account because of the bonus, the ongoing cost is the number that matters after month one.
